This picture shows a recent fall on the west beach at Sea Town. The soft marls and rocks of the Jurassic Lower Lias Period (muddy shales banded with harder limestone) formed in a warm marine environment and are very unstable with may lines of weakness and easily eroded by wave action in rough weather as well as cliff falls when the rocks become saturated after times of high rainfall.
