Robert FitzWalter called a secret meeting at Bury St. Edmunds Abbey on 20th November 1214, where it was agreed the King should be forced to obey the rightful laws and liberties, granted to the church and nobles of England in the charter of Henry 1. If King John did not agree the Barons would declare war on him.
