The church of St Mary dominates the Woolpit skyline. The church has evolved over the centuries from its Norman origins. The priest‘s door in the chancel, which was built in 1200 AD is the oldest part of the church. The rest of the church is much younger. The legend of the children predates the church. However in the story they were given baptism and an older church building may well have stood on the same site.
