The overall impression may be gained from this photograph. Approximately 1km inland, the loine of the old coast is clearly visible with small settlements and field boundaries. A low lying area of reclaimed land is used for arable farming in front of the old coast. The tidal marshland is disected by meandering chanels of small streams. The main course of the river has been diverted by sand deposits which mark the edge of the present coastline.
