The highest peaks of Arran maintained their glaciers throughout the ice age. As the main scottish ice caps retreated , Arrans mountains maintained their own glacier. The hard volcanic rocks of the Arran mountains were eroded slowly to produce a sharply defined glaciated landscape. This photograph looks westwards across Brodick Bay over Arran with the hills of Kintyre in the background.
