This beautiful nature reserve nestles in the Nene Valley on the road between Wollaston and Great Doddington, 2 miles south east of Wellingborough.
Formed as a result of gravel extraction, it is a great place to visit at any time of the year, it is said to be the finest wetland site in the East Midlands. There is plenty of wildlife to be seen all year round, such as huge flocks of golden plover in Autumn and Winter, and many species of dragonfly in the summer. It has the largest resident population of tree sparrows in the county. Often rare mammals, birds, dragonflies and flowers are found. Summer Leys is managed in partnership with the Wildlife Trust for Northamptonshire.
Facilities: 4 bird hides (hard paths to all hides), viewing screens, picnic area and hard paths. 2 mile circular walk. Wheelchair access to all hides and to about 300m of paths.
