This plant is a hybrid of Common Comfrey and Rough Comfrey and is now the most common species found on roadsides, hedgerows and wasteground. It usually flowers June to August but this plant was still in bloom in early September. Comfrey has long been associated with healing wounds and common comfrey was used to make a binding for broken limbs. Pictured near Old Warden Bedfordshire early September 2005.
