This plant is a woody climbing plant common in hedgerows and wood borders. It has greenish-creamy flowers with four sepals. From late summer the plants start to develop a long feathery white plumed style from each seed. The seeds sit in clusters and the plumes give a white hair like appearance hence its nickname - old man's beard. This late flowering plant was pictured near Cople Bedfordshire, early September 2005.
