This plant grows up to 200 cm tall, with strap shaped leaves. The flower heads are only 5mm across and are dying off in this picture. It was introduced from North America and grows mainly on waste ground and railways. It flowers from August to October. Pictured at the old railway bank Stevington, Bedfordshire mid October 2005.
