One of the most common flowers of short grassland. The daisy has a yellow disc surrounded by white petals. The stem is hairy and the leaves spoon shaped. The flowers open in the morning and close at night and in dull weather. Its Latin name means beautiful and although regarded as a weed it has been written about by everyone from Shelley to Chaucer. It flowers mainly from May to September. These plants were pictured at Old Warden Railway Cutting Bedfordshire in Mid November 2005.
