Many fungi form crusts on trunks or logs. Coriolus versicolor is a brightly coloured bracket fungi that grows in layers on cut or fallen logs and tree trunks. It produces small pores underneath its cap. It is 2-5cm wide and ca be found all year round. Pictured in Cople Woods, Bedfordshire Mid December 2005
