The Deodar was introduced to Britain in 1831 from the Himalayan forests. It is native to an area covering Afghanistan to Western Nepal. It is a magnificent tree and one of only four true Cedars. In Britain it is mostly used as an ornamental tree in country estates, gardens and parks, as well as in graveyards. Pictured in Stagsden churchyard Mid December 2005.
