A fungus that produces its spores over its surface from tiny flask-shaped bodies. It has a black stem with a white tip which turns black with age. It mainly grows on dead wood and tree stumps. It can grow up to 6cm high and can be found all year round. Pictured at Old Warden, Bedfordshire - Mid December 2005
