A large tree which is a cross between small leaved lime and large leaved lime. In July it produces sweetly scented greenish flowers. The flowers are in hanging clusters of four or more with a long oblong bract joined to the stalk, which remains as the fruits develop. Its leaves are up to 2-3 inches long. The Lime has a very distinctive shape (shown here). Pictured Cardington, Bedfordshire - December 2005
