Outdoor ice rinks are becoming very popular places to visit, especially at Christmas. Skating developed in Scandinavia and has a very long history going back thousands of years, when skates made of bone were used. The first artificial ice rink (mechanically-refrigerated) was built in 1876, near the King's Road Chelsea, London, and was named the Glaciarium. This picture was taken at Central Milton Keynes December 2005.
