These fungi are amongst the commonest wood rotting fungi. They occur in a wide range of colours. The fan shaped semi-circular brackets fuse with their neighbours to form long strips or shelves. The upper surface is concentrically zoned. The fungii are found on old stumps or fallen rotting broadleaf trees. Picture taken late January 2006, near Old Warden, Bedfordshire.
