Although found in a hedgerow, this plant was similar to one growing in a near by churchyard and appears to be an early flowering species of Viburnum (probably a variety of viburnum tinus), very close in appearance to the native species the Wayfaring Tree (Viburnum lantana), but without the fine teeth on its leaves. The Wayfaring Tree flowers later, usually in May. Pictured near Cople, Bedfordshire January 2006.
