A mosque in the Old Town, Mostar. The first Muslim quarter or mahala (with a mosque and bath) appeared along the riverbank north of the old bridge in 1475. The core of the Muslim town developed at both ends of the stone bridge constructed in 1566. There are many Mosques in the Old Town, however many had to be rebuilt after damage caused in the Bosnia war.
