Goat on Cliff Samaria Gorge Crete. The Samaria Gorge in Crete is a national - the longest gorge in Europe. approximately 18 kilometres which begins at the plateau of Omalos. Crosses through the White Mountains and finishes at the tiny village of Aghia Roumeli on the Libyan Sea. Thee gorge is rich with flower, herbs, trees, abandoned settlements and wild goats known as Kri-Kri, as well as birds of prey.
