This fungus has jelly-like flesh when wet, and its spores fall from little spore-holders, placing it in the Basidiomycetes It is frequently used in egg rolls and other Chinese dishes in stuffings and fillings as the dried pieces are rather tasteless. It grows on tree bark and decaying logs. Its appearance is typically ear-shaped ( 2-15cm) tan to brown with irregular brown flesh which is thin, gelatinous-rubbery when wet.
