Buds that will develop into flowers are starting to form on the holly. Holly is a small tree/shrub 3-15 m with smooth thin bark, glossy green leaves with wavy edges and spines It usually flowers May - August and the female plants produce bright red fruits in Autumn/Winter. Pictured at Ampthill, Bedfordshire in early March 2006.
