Many fungi form crusts on trunks or logs. Coriolus versicolor is a brightly coloured bracket fungi that grows in layers on cut or fallen logs and by tree trunks. It produces small pores underneath its cap. It is 2-5cm wide and can be found all year round. Pictured at Felmersham, Bedfordshire Mid March 2006
