The flowers buds are starting to develop on a holly tree. Holly is a small tree/shrub 3-15 m with smooth thin bark, glossy green leaves with wavy edges and spines. It usually flowers May - August and the female plants produce bright red fruits in Autumn/Winter. Pictured at Ampthill, Bedfordshire in March 2005
