These pictures show ash in various stages of flowering. In late autumn /winter, ash can be easily distinguished by its black buds and, in summer, by its distinctive pinnate leaves. The black buds turn brown and flowers appear, usually in April, before the leaves and are wind pollinated. It produces both male flowers, female and bisexual flowers. Its fruits can be found in late summer / autumn. It is a very common tree that can reach a height of 30-32 metres. Picture taken near Stagsden, Bedfordshire 10th April 2006.
