One of the earliest flowering plants, Lesser Celandine can carpet damp woods and meadows in yellow. Its flowers open to the sun and close in dull weather. Each flower has 8-12 petals and three sepals. The heart shaped leaves grow on long stalks. The fruiting head contains numerous fruits. It flowers March - May and was once used to cure many illnesses.
