A plant associated with true love. It was worn in the Middle Ages to show that partners were faithful. It is an upright, very hairy plant with pale blue flowers and a yellow ring in the centre. The petal tube is shorter than the sepals. The lower leaves form a rosette at the base of the flower and the leaves on the stem are stalkless. It is common in grassy places. It flowers from April to September. Picture taken at Old Warden, Bedfordshire - 12th May 2006.
