A downy annual, 5-25cm in height. The lower leaves are long stalked (not shown), upper bracts have blunt teeth and clasp the stem in pairs. The Calyx tube has dense white hairs. The purple pink flowers have a long tube. The plant is common to waste and arable land, it flowers from May to September. This picture was taken on the 15th May 2006 at Stevington, Bedfordshire.
