NEN Gallery

This tree forms a medium sized, little branched crown, it has dark grey-green ridged bark; the young twigs are white and downy, bearing lobed leaves. The leaves are dull green on top and white/grey underneath. The catkins appear in March /April. The male catkins are reddish-purple with grey hairs and the females are greenish with well separated flowers. In May, the female catkins split and release many white seeds.
