This plant is similar to Greater Stitchwort but with smaller flowers - only 5-18mm across. The petals are deeply split and of equal length to the sepals. It grows on acidic grasslands and open woodlands. Here it is flowering in a meadow on the Greensand Ridge near Maulden, Bedfordshire. Picture taken 29th May 2006.
