This plant is not native but was introduced from the continent many centuries ago, probably for its leaves which were once eaten as a delicacy. Now it is a common plant across Britain, that can be hard to remove from gardens one it has a hold. It has notched white flowers with prominent stamens, often giving the flower head a yellowish colour. It is a upright hairless plant, each leaf has a number of leaflets. It flowers May to July. The seed is egg-shaped and ribbed with two bent back styles. Picture taken July 19th 2006 at Stagsden, Bedfordshire.
