The Burdock flower are just starting to develop. Burdock is charactersied by the round burrs that stick to clothing. They have hooks at the end of the bracts, this allows the plant to spread its seeds over a wide area. The plant has upright stems with several branches. Its purple red flowers can be seen between July and September (although this plant has finished flowering). Burdock was thought to cure snake bites and rabid dogs as well as sooth burns and sores. It is a member of the Daisy family. Picture taken June 23rd 2006 at Old Warden, Bedfordshire.
