This plants roots fix nitrogen from the air and hence it can enrich the soil. Its seeds are also rich in protein. It is common in grassy places. It has creeping underground roots and often forms large clumps. Each leaf has a small forked tendril for climbing up other plants, however it is not a great climber relying on surrounding plants for support. It has sharply angled square stems. it flowers May to August. The yellow flowers have nectar at the bottom of long flowering tubes and are visited by bumble bees. It is also known as Yellow tare.
