Bindweed grows on farmland (particularly corn fields), wasteland, grassy areas, gardens, in fact anywhere it can get established and is very difficult to remove. The ends of the stems revolve anticlockwise around anything it touches (it completes a circle around a plant in less than 2 hours). As it wraps around other plants it can strangle them. Its deep root system makes it difficult to control and the plant is bad for the soil. Picture taken July 1st 2006 at Old Warden, Bedfordshire.
