Artist impression of the people of Flag fen. Flag Fen was a religious site and settlement in the Bronze and Iron ages. About 3000 years ago groups of people lived on the dry higher ground which surrounded a shallow basin. They built tools and houses from alder and poplar growing in the fen. In summer they grazed cattle and sheep in the pastures of the basin which flooded in winter providing then with waterfowl and fish. Picture taken 6th August 2006 at Flag Fen, Cambridgeshire.
