Iron age people tended to live in tribes - this hut has been reconstructed at Flag Fen. The area was on the border of the Catuvellauni, Corieltauvi and Iceni tribes. The hut would house an extended family or maybe more than one family. Sometimes the tribes built forts to live in for protection, one of these can still be seen at Borough fen near Peterborough.
