Reconstructed roof. A variety of traditional methods were used to build the roof. A range of under-layers visible from the inside include woven Norfolk reed (known as fleeking) and Rye straw, these provide the support layer. Heather fixed to the rafters using willow, provides a base layer on top. An upper layer of Rye straw - 'the weathering coat' keeps the hall dry.
