A plant (30-100cm) with branched flower heads of bright yellow, a cottony stem and ragged divided leaves. It is common to neglected pastures, roadsides, wasteland and dunes. It is often a pest of agricultural land and, if accidently harvested with hay, can harm livestock as it contains an alkaloid poison. It flowers June to October. Picture taken 27th August 2006 at Old Warden, Bedfordshire.
