This fungi is probably the horse mushroom or the similar species Agarisus macrocarpus - which prefers woodland where this mushroom was found. It has a round white cap and a cylindrical to slightly club shaped stem. The crowded gills are pinkish to brown. The white flesh slowly bruises to a dull yellow and smells of aniseed. It fruits summer to autumn. Picture taken at Felmersham, Bedfordshire 27th August 2006.
