Wood dock is an erect plant that can grow up to 100cm. It's branches are set at an acute angle to the stem. The oval leaves are rounded at the bases. The plant is leafy only at the base. The whorls of flowers are more separated out than on other docks. The inner sepals are oblong, blunt, untoothed and have only one wart. It is a common plant of woods and hedgerows. It flowers from June to August. Picture taken 7th July 2006 at Felmersham, Bedfordshire.
