Yellow loosestrife is not related to the Purple loosestrife Both grows on fens and moist soils, preferring those parts, which are permanently wet While Purple loosestrife is a true loosestrife, Yellow Loosestrife is a member of the primrose family. Their shared common name refers to their mythical ability to settle arguments. Yellow Loosestrife produces yellow flower in whorls around the stem between June and August. It can grow up to 4 ft and prefers sandy or loamy soils.
