A plant (30-100cm) with branched flower heads of bright yellow, a cottony stem and ragged divided leaves. It is common to neglected pastures, roadsides, wasteland and dunes. It is often a pest of agricultural land and if accidentally harvested with hay can harm livestock as it contains an alkaloid poison. It flowers June to October.
