This plant grows in similar habitats (disturbed ground and agricultural land) as the nettle and its leaves have often been used by walkers to cure nettle stings. It was also used to dress burns and scolds in former times. It has deep roots and can be difficult to remove from gardens and fields. It was long narrow leaves curled up at the edges. The inner sepals are without teeth and there is usually a wart on all three sepals. Picture taken 22nd July 2006 at Stevington, Bedfordshire.
