A very large species, with a funnel shaped cap usually raised in the centre. The cap is white to pale beige or cream and is dry and smooth. The white gills run down the very tall stem. The stem is club shaped and fiberous. It has a randid smell and is often found growing in wide circles. It grows in mixed woods on alkaline soils and can be found summer to late autumn. Picture taken 24th October at Stagsden woods, Bedfordshire.
