This fungi I think is the Panthercap (as its stalk is longer and whiter than that of the similar looking Blusher 'Amanita rubescens' and the skin did not change pink when damaged). The Panthercap is extremely poisonous. Its cap flattens out with age. It has radial grooves along the cap margin (only faintly visible here) and many white veil scales. The gills are free and white and the stem is smooth - about half way down is a ring. It has a bulbous base with a gutter like margin. It can be found summer to autumn in a wide range of woodlands particularly on alkaline soils. Picture taken 23rd October at Stagsden, Bedfordshire.
