An upright or low-growing perennial
plant with 'bladder-like' white flowers in clusters. Individual flowers consist of 5 white petals that are deeply lobed or split and resemble a "V". The flowers also have bladder-like cases which are actually fused inflated sepals with 20 distinct pink to white veins. The fruit is a round capsule within the 'bladder.' White Campion (Silene alba) is very similar in appearance and habit, but has hairs on its leaves and stems unlike bladder campion. Bladder campion grows in pastures, arable land and roadsides. Picture taken 26th October near Odell, Bedfordshire.
