We think this fungi is the Jewelled Amanita but this species is very similar to the False Deathcap (Amanita citrina) so if anyone can help with identification please let us know. The Jewelled Amanita has a cap that can vary from cream to dark yellow with grooves at the edge. The white stem has a fragile ring which is often missing (as here). The narrow volva has a rim often with crumbly belts above it. It is found singularly or in troops in woodland on acidic soil. Picture taken at Maulden Wood, Bedfordshire, October 26th 2006.
