Whitehall is the main road running north from Parliament Square, centre of national government, towards the southern end of Trafalgar Square. The road is lined with government ministries and the term "Whitehall" is also used as a reference to governmental administration, as well as being a geographic name for the surrounding district. This includes the The Foreign and Commonwealth Office -the British government department responsible for promoting the interests of the United Kingdom abroad.
