This bronze sculpture stands next to The Cenotaph in Whitehall. The Memorial is a permanent tribute to the contribution made by more than seven million women during 1939 – 45. The memorial was unvailed by the Queen on 9th July 2005. It took seven years of campaigning before the memorial became a reality. Nationally, over £300,000 was raised from public donations before the Heritage Lottery Fund provided the remaining amount required.
