Regent Street is a major shopping thoroughfare in London�s West End. It is named after the Prince Regent (later George IV). It was was originally built by John Nash, however all of his buildings were replaced with larger ones in a Neo-baroque style designed by Reginald Blomfield in the 1920�s It runs from Waterloo Palace (Lower Regent Street) north through Piccadilly Circus then as Regent Street on to Oxford Circus then becoming Upper Regent Street. The main shopping section of the street lies between Oxford Circus to the north, and Piccadilly Circus to the south - a distance of about 3/4 of a mile.
