The famous British fish-n-chips meal first became popular in late Victorian times. This was due to the growth of railways enabling fresh fish to be transported inland for the first time, thus creating a huge market for it.

Fish and chip shops first became popular in the Victorian period. Faster transport allowed fish to be transported easier and many fish dishes became were eaten.
